Parramatta was pleased to welcome Chief Justice Bell of the Supreme Court of NSW, President of the Court of Appeal Justice Ward, Chief Judge at Common Law Justice Beech-Jones, Attorney General Mark Speakman, Shadow Attorney-General Michael Daley, Member for Prospect Dr Hugh McDermott, Lord Mayor Donna Davis, Judges of the Supreme Court of NSW, Judges of the District Court of NSW, Magistrates of the Local Court, Justices and Judges of the Federal Circuit Court and Family Court of Australia, Chief Commissioner Constant and Commissioners of the Industrial Relations Commission of NSW, Members of NCAT, Members of PIC, Cassandra Banks, President of The Law Society of NSW, and other dignitaries to an Opening of Law Term Gathering.
President of the Parramatta & District Regional Law Society, Stephen McAuley, told the gathering that Parramatta is a critical centre for justice in NSW.
Chief Justice Bell spoke of the long history Parramatta has had associated with the administration of justice. Chief Justice Bell told the gathering that the Supreme Court of NSW sat permanently at Parramatta.
